Introducing: the M5a2 Wolverine Light Hovertank.
Crew of 2. 80mm main gun, 8mm coaxial machinegun. The Wolverine was the Coalition's answer during the ISW to the Auroran Empire's endless minefields and high-speed armored vehicles; it floats, and it can move extremely fast. A very simple design that is easily mass-produced for low cost, the Wolverine is no match for a main battle tank and does not have the armor to take a huge amount of punishment, but it excels at its job filling the the gap between the Goliath HUAV and the Crusader MBT, having much higher firepower than the former and a markedly higher top speed than the latter. The Wolverine's main strength is also its weakness, however. A hovertank cannot exactly stop on a dime, and making a tight turn when the Wolverine is operating near top speed results in excessive slide.
The Wolverine will be a special power airborne unit, carried in by a Hammerhead heavy lifter.

[%&%^ &*u *&$ #e* th#@ %{:content:}amp;king connection up so I can brief the field commanders? Wait, that's it. Close enough. Gentlemen, I'm sure you've been appraised of the situation, either from Colonial Admin or simply watching CHVN, but allow me to recap regardless. Two hours ago, a vessel of unknown origin entered orbit above the planet. Attempts to communicate were ignored, but it took no actions, threatening or otherwise. About 30 minutes ago it opened fire on the planet without warning, destroying the planetary defense guns and bombarding Grus Interstellar and Fort Randall. We, uh..we got hit pretty hard here. They're still trying to pull bodies out of the rubble. It would have been a lot worse if the SS Hammerhead {datanetref:hammerhead} and the Nyx{datanetred:nyx} hasn't forced it to break off and engage them. The Nyx was lost a short time later, with all hands. From radio traffic we received during the fight, it looks like the Hammerhead actually rammed the alien ship and forced it into the atmosphere. Unfortunately the Hammerhead broke up during the descent. We already have Marine teams out attempting to rescue any surviving lifeboats launched from her. The problem is we're not the only ones with that idea.] [audible sigh]
[From what our scouts and civilian witnesses have reported, it seems the alien ship landed largely intact. They're already mobilizing major forces and several dropships have already been sighting trying to reach the Hammerhead's lifeboats. We have no idea why they're so desperate to reach those pods, probably to finish what they started in orbit. The Marines are going to have to handle that, we have far bigger problems. The main body of the alien forces are already on their way here. We're going to delay them as long as we can while civilians evacuate to Grus City. They'll be here shortly, so we don't have a lot of time left. We've put together some information on the main alien units based on initial recon.]

[These monsters appear to be the main infantry force of the aliens. We believe they call themselves Istrika; they insist on using that word before killing their opponent. They're armed with some advanced energy rifles, far more effective than our solid-state laser weapons. They're tenacious and brutal, fast and heavily armored. Take them out at range or with vehicles, keep our guys away from them as much as possible.]

[This vehicle has to be one of their main tanks. Well, tank-equivalent. It hovers, allowing it to pass over obstacles that would stop even one of our Crusaders. It's protected by an energy field unlike anything we've ever seen. Only a concentrated barrage of fire will cause it to overload. Even then, it still has heavy armor underneath. It mounts what seems to be an improved version of the energy weapons carried by infantry units on an oscillating turret; we have footage of it taking out a Humvee and following up by downing a Predator gunship. It's equally dangerous to everything we can field, make sure it's a priority to take out.]
[There are also several alien flyers operating in the area, they s%{:content:}amp;$ %& @#$@$% &&%&# @#$#]

To be continued shortly.
No news is good news.
It really has only been a week since the last update, I swear. Unfortunately I have a habit of making promises that end up being challenging to keep up with, but there is good reason for our two months of media blackout. The mod has been progressing at an increasingly rapid pace and we have almost hit the milestone of having the AWSC faction completely playable in its entirety, along with its related economy. That's an impressive bit of work for our small team.
To make a short story even shorter, our hope for a demo release is gaining steam. Once again, no promises, but I would prefer that we don't horde our mod like we did with Halogen. In the meantime, we continue on with the exploration of the AWSC arsenal.

Far from the tradition of 21st century rotors, the Predator is a strange sight on the field. Using several turbofans to propel itself through the air, it has the maneuverability to provide close air support to ground units operating on the front lines.
The Predator is armed with two 30mm rotary cannons and eight anti-tank rockets, making it an early counter to enemy armor and an excellent mobile fire support platform for infantry and vehicle operations. It remains an affordable solution for escorting vulnerable aircraft such as Marine Condor dropships throughout extended campaigns.
The Cobra bridges the gap between main battle tanks and massive dedicated artillery pieces such as the Sledgehammer. Acting primarily as a self-propelled medium-range artillery system, the Cobra excels at supporting armor advances and suppressing entrenched enemy positions.

What's this? Bonus preview of new construction animations?

That's all we have time for. Colonial Administration will be in touch.
